I’m a postdoctoral scholar researching AI, education, and health at the University of Texas at Austin, School of Information. I explore how ethical, human-centered AI can transform the way we learn, teach, and care for one another.
Over the past years,
I’ve led interdisciplinary projects that design AI tutors, AI literacy programs, and AI therapy chatbots, each built to support inclusion, trust, and real learning impact.
My mission is..
to create AI that empowers people--helping learners, educators, and communities thrive in an evolving world.
Dive into some of my work and see how I use research to reshape education and health!
I was raised in South Korea, studied in Canada, Hong Kong and the US, and worked in Beijing. These experiences instilled deep appreciation for diversity and open-mindedness enriching my personal and professional life.
Prior to Ph.D., I spent 6 years in K-12 ESL teaching and training educators in tech-enhanced learning, cultivating empathy for learners and educators, and honing my understanding of their cognitive needs in a tech-savvy environment.
When the Covid pandemic struck, I rallied Ph.D. students to establish a blog for educators, sharing resources on online teaching techniques. I flew back to Korea for summer and collaborated with a school district in Seoul, conducting training sessions across various schools.
Fueled by a desire to address classroom challenges, I developed a collaborative language learning app to individually record and receive peer feedback that saw implementation in over 10 schools and it became the a published research study too.
I cherish my roles as 👧👧 and 🐕 mom. I am also a Yoggie and love kayaking/ paddle boarding on Lady Bird Lake.
